TSA Agent Leaves Inappropriate Note In Passengers Suitcase
October 25, 2011
A TSA official left a funny, but inappropriate note in the suitcase of a New York lawyer and blogger after finding a “personal item” in her luggage.
According to the Daily Mail, Jill Filipovic was traveling from Newark to Dublin on Monday and after arriving at her hotel, opened up her suitcase to find that her luggage had been searched. That is when she noticed the note written on the notice: “GET YOUR FREAK ON GIRL!”
Although the note made Jill laugh, she didn’t laugh for long. The note has now sparked an investigation over the conduct of TSA officials.
Jill took to Twitter to share her feelings (and a photo) about the note:
“This is what TSA will do when they inspect a bag you checked and find a, um, ‘personal item.’”
“Total violation of privacy, wildly inappropriate and clearly not ok, but I also just died laughing in my hotel room.”
It appears TSA agents think they are above the law. And in some ways, maybe they are. They have the legal ability to search people and property without just cause. They treat just about every traveler as though they’re a terror suspect. But, where are the laws that protect travelers?
Oh, that’s right- there aren’t any!
What do you think?
