The World’s Most Expensive Dog Is…
March 16, 2011
A Tibetan Masiff was sold to a multi-millionaire in China for $1.5 million dollars, reports the Telegraph.
The dog, which has been named Hong Dong, is already 11-months-old, stands 3 feet high, and weighs more than 180 pounds!
Lu Liang is the breeder who sold this huge dog for an incredible price, but he claims it wasn’t about the money – it was about the love between dog and owner.
“I could see he loved the puppy, or I would not have sold him. The buyer told me he thought he was a good investment. As a male dog, he can be hired out to other breeders for as much as 100,000 yuan a shot. He could recoup his money in just a couple of years.”
I personally think spending anything more than $3,000 for a dog is crazy, but Liang doesn’t agree.
“The price is justified. We have spent a lot of money raising this dog, and we have the salaries of plenty of staff to pay.”
Even if I were super duper rich, I would never spend that much money on a dog – especially one whose life-span is about 10 years.
Crazy!
